Jamie and Joans BlogProject Name: Jame and Joans Blog
Site Type: Blog
Created: March 2008

I've always enjoyed working with blogs so here is one I setup for my good mate Jamie and his wife Joan. It's using the latest version of WordPress and one of my favourite modules I've added is 'FotoBook', it imports photo albums directly from Facebook so there is no need to re-upload the same photos! This blog is for family and relatives who do not have a Facebook account so they can still see what he gets up to when he's travelling.

Wordpress is very easy manage and maintain. The latest version allows you to upgrade modules automatically within the control panel!!

Powered by: Wordpress

Extra Modules:

  • AJAX Calendar - A version of the WordPress calendar that uses AJAX to allow the user to step through the months without updating the page. Additionally, a click on the ‘expand’ link shows all the posts within that month, inside the calendar. Caching of content can be enabled to increase speed.
  • Akismet - Akismet checks your comments against the Akismet web service to see if they look like spam or not.
  • Fotobook - This plugin allows you to import Facebook photo galleries directly into WordPress.
  • Lightbox 2 - Used to overlay images on the current page.
  • Lighter Menus - Creates Drop Down Menus for WordPress Admin Panels. Fast to load, adaptable to color schemes, comes with silk icons, a option page, and a design that fits within the Wordpress 2.5 interface.
  • TinyMCEComments - Nice little graphical editor for comments
  • Sociable - Add links to popular community websites like myspace, friendster and facebook.
  • WassUp - A plugin to analyze your visitors traffic with real time stats, chart etc
  • WordPress Database Backup - On-demand backup of your WordPress database.
  • WP Security Scan - Perform security scan of WordPress installation.

Template:

I'm using a free template "Dark Classic 1.0" by AskGraphics which I modified slightly to include the custom header graphic.
